Business Analysis
Business Analysis is a structured methodology that is focused on completely understanding the customer's needs, identifying how best to meet those needs, and then "reinventing" the stream of processes to meet those needs. Its purpose is to develop business process improvement (BPI) as a key strategy and a management tool, capable of supporting the organization's vision, mission, goals, and objectives, and to promote the effective use of technology throughout the organization.

As the main liaison between business and IT departments, Riptide's business analysts are responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional system design specifications that can be executed by IT development teams. Poor requirements definition results in a disconnect between what IT builds and what the business needs - adding cost, causing delays, and leading to solution failure.

Independent Validation and Verification
Riptide Software, Inc. provides independent validation and verification (V&V), honest broker services to the US Army and to industry at large. Our services have been acquired by Board of Directors of companies who desire a technology assessment on potential programs prior to obtaining funding. We have performed several V&V efforts on software architectures, providing an independent voice in evaluation. The US Army via PEO STRI often requires an independent opinion on a technical software system from a company who "doesn't have a dog in the fight". Many times, Riptide Software, Inc. has provided that independent V&V assessment.

Our system architectures are trained to rapidly assess the pros and cons of a system within the guidelines the customer establishes in respect to time and budget. These software experts understand what is important to the success of a software system, and provide evaluations backed by industry standards and practices.

Instructional Design
Instructional design, also known as instructional systems design, is the analysis of learning needs and systematic development of instruction. Instructional designers often use instructional technology as a method for developing instruction. Instructional design models typically specify a method, that if followed will facilitate the transfer of knowledge, skills and attitude to the recipient or acquirer of the instruction.

Riptide Software, Inc. uses an approved instructional systems design process in the development of interactive multimedia instruction (IMI), or web-based training.

I. Analysis Phase

  1. Identify essential job tasks
  2. Identify learning objectives
  3. Information on learner population

II. Design Phase

  1. Selection of instructional method
  2. Selection of content and media
  3. Determine the instructional strategies
  4. Review the current instructional method

III. Development Phase

  1. Development of lesson materials, module practice interactions
  2. Assessments
  3. Media production (digital video, 3d animation, audio, digital photographs, etc.)

IV. Implementation Phase

  1. Validation activities of formative and summative evaluation
  2. Delivery

Following the ISD process ensures that Riptide provides our customers with sanctioned and approved IMI, benefiting the student going through the training.

Sarbanes-Oxley Audit/Compliance
President Bush signed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act into law on July 30, 2002. This significant new regulation placed additional requirements on all publicly traded and reporting companies in the areas of corporate governance, disclosure, accounting & reporting.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requires US companies to comply with specific retention periods and standards for the documentation surrounding an audit. This includes all records related to the audit process, no matter what the format.

Supporting over 125 different file formats, Riptide develops software solutions which don't require any reformatting, categorization or special treatment of your data. If a document or piece of information exists in your system, Riptide solutions enable you to quickly and easily locate them.

The Act requires that audit committees establish procedures for the receipt, retention and treatment of complaints regarding accounting, internal accounting controls or auditing matters, and for the confidential, anonymous submission by employees of concerns regarding questionable accounting or auditing matters. The SEC is required to direct the national securities exchanges and national securities associations to prohibit the listing of any company that is not in compliance with this requirement by April 26, 2003.
