Description
A QA Engineer works on small and medium size projects. Their role is to perform analysis of requirements and business rules during the requirements phase. Create test documentation during the design phase. Create manual and automated test cases during the development phase and execute those test cases during the test phase. Some SQL queries and coding with an automated tool will be necessary for the creation of test cases. This position also requires the person to work directly with other Analysts and Engineers to coordinate releases and enhancements to existing products. Work with the QA Team to ensure that proper documentation and training material is updated and coincides with current processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing analysis work and creating QA documentation
- Running queries to generate test data
- Coding test scripts with automated tool & generating test cases
- Executing test cases and defect tracking
- Providing support during UAT
- Conduct proactive testing for any changes made to program design, database, functionality, etc
Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions based on proper research
- Understanding of web-based application environments and experience with e-commerce applications
- Ability to perform analysis based on requirements, wireframes and design documents
- Create reproducible test results, test scenarios, and test for common problems and errors
- Knowledge of Star Team and Toad is highly desired but not a requirement
Experience Required
- Minimum of 3-5 years software testing experience on web-based applications
- Experience following testing processes and best practices
- 1 year experience creating automated scripts
- 1 year experience using Test Director
Education Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
