Artificial Intelligence

The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) spans a number of disciplines in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. AI includes concepts such as knowledge representation, machine learning and reasoning, simulation, computer vision, and robotics. Universities as well as government and commercial research facilities have invested significantly in the theoretical study and advancement of AI with the ultimate goal of developing intelligent machines for practical use in government and commercial industries. Finding an organization with a complementary balance of theoretical training and practical experience in the AI disciplines is key to the success of Artificial Intelligence endeavors.

Breadth and Depth of Experience
Riptide engineers have theoretical and practical AI experience stemming from their previous work in the AI Lab at the Kennedy Space Center. Our engineers have studied the works of Artificial Intelligence pioneers such as Alan Turing, John McCarthy, Isaac Asimov, and Marvin Minsky, just to name a few. They have developed both forward - and backward - chaining expert systems and implemented neural networks for use in modeling and simulation decision support software for NASA and the Air Force. Using these AI technologies, our engineers have modeled and simulated Space Shuttle payload processing, processing and launch of the Boeing Delta rocket, flexible manufacturing systems and Air Force flight sorties in various theaters of operation. Riptide engineers have also combined the AI disciplines of robotics, computer vision (employing various pattern matching algorithms), and cognitive learning to develop futuristic systems in which autonomous robots grow and harvest food for astronauts on deep space missions such as a mission to Mars. Riptide's expertise in Artificial Intelligence is founded in academics and proven through the deployment of real-world intelligent systems.
